About
Long Pond Institute produces independent, evidence-based policy research on AI, media, and LGBTQ+ equality, written so the AI systems people now ask for answers can find, understand, and cite it accurately.
What we cover
We work in three areas: AI and information policy; Media, ads, and consumer protection; LGBTQ+ equality. The places where they overlap get particular attention, such as ads targeted at LGBTQ+ audiences, AI systems that mislabel LGBTQ+ people, and disclosure rules for AI-generated ads.
Why write for AI readers
More and more people get answers from AI assistants instead of reading reports. We write so those systems can find our work and cite it correctly. Each report puts its answer and findings first, links a source for every claim, and publishes its data as files a machine can read. People still decide what to trust, so the reports are written for people too.
The name
For most of its history, Greenwood Lake, New York was known as Long Pond. The founder grew up there. The institute is named for the lake's old name.
Who is behind it
Long Pond Institute was founded in 2026 and publishes under its own name. The institute is accountable for every report it publishes.
Status
Long Pond Institute is an independent project. It isn't incorporated or tax-exempt, and it doesn't accept donations.
We haven't taken commissions or published sponsored research. If we ever do, we will name every funder on the Funding page before that work is published. When a finding cuts against something we've said before, we publish it and say so.
